Hi All,
Just need some guidance on the following.
Will be implementing a PROD and DR Hyper-V cluster, managed by VMM 2019. All Hyper-V Nodes will be 2019. VMM 2019 is also going be HA with SQL 2017 AG.
Now my question is the following. I'll be using VMM 2019 to manage the logical networks and switches of the new Hyper-V 2019 clusters, how would you go about installing VMM 2019.
Option 1:
Would you install VMM 2019 single node onto a single Hyper-V host with SQL 2017 and use this VMM node to configure the Hyper-V Networks, and switches then deploy to the Hyper-V clusters and create the cluster. Once the cluster is created move the VMM node over to the newly created cluster as well as the SQL Servers and add the additional VMM Node.
This ensures that VMM correctly deploys the logical switch and creates the vNICs accordingly on each Hyper-V host and then creates the hyper-V cluster.
Option 2:
Or would you create the Hyper-V networks/switches via Hyper-V Manager and then create the cluster and then create the fabric management on top. But with this it wont manage the Hyper-V switches/Networks.
I want everything managed by VMM 2019 including the logical switches/networks. I'm guessing that Option 1 is the more logical approach.
Any input on this would be great.
