Hello.
I have the last VMM 4.0.2244.0.
I have three nodes in failover cluster: srv-hv-00[123]. This cluster has two roles: hyper-v and file server. Also this cluster has two clustered MPIO storages: one for hyper-v role with machines and the second storage for high availability VMM library. This
VMM library has only ISO and templates of VMs.
The hyper-v cluster name is hyper-v-cl-001.XYZ.
The file server clustered role has name hyper-v-lib-001.XYZ.
All permissions are set correctly to share file instead of copying it. I tested it.
Lets imagine two situations:
1) The VM is hosted on the first node cluster - srv-hv-001. The owner of clustered file server role is the third node - srv-hv-003. In this situation I can share ISO file instead of copying it.
2) The VM is hosted on the first node cluster - srv-hv-001. The owner of clustered file server role is the first node too - srv-hv-001. In this situation I can't share ISO file instead of copying it and get the usual error:
Error (12700)
VMM cannot complete the host operation on the 'srv-hv-002.XYZ' server because of the error: 'test' failed to add device 'Virtual CD/DVD Disk'. (Virtual machine ID 47F528E6-3E9B-4A32-8461-3399F6411A7E)
'test': The Machine Account 'XYZ\SRV-HV-002$' or the user initiating the VM management operation or both do not have the required access to the file share '\\hyper-v-lib-001.XYZ\Library\ISO\XenDesktop7_1.iso'. Please ensure that the computer machine account
and the user initiating the VM management operation have full access to the file share as well as the file system folder backing the file share. Error: 'General access denied error' (0x80070005). (Virtual machine ID 47F528E6-3E9B-4A32-8461-3399F6411A7E)

Recommended Action
Resolve the host issue and then try the operation again.
