SCVMM2012 Sp1 Not assigning IP address from a pool

Hi All,

Let me first explain what i have created:

1. I have a logical network LOGNETWORK(network sites are not connectedchecked). I have a Network site TESTSITE defined in that Logical network and one VLAN. I then create a pool of IP addresses LOGNETPOOL.

2. I create a logical switch (TESTSWITCH), which uses a Native Uplink Port Profile (that has virtualization enabled - which doesn't matter in this case, I hope). I have selected TESTSITE to be used in that Native Uplink Port Profile.

3. I have 2 Hyper-V hosts, with one NIC each, on which I create the logical switch (TESTSWITCH)

4. Now I create a VM network (VMNET) from the logical network LOGNETWORK, and the subnet from the TESTSITE site.

5. I create a VM, and connect it to the VM network VMNET.

If I did everything correctly isnt the VM supposed to get the IP address automatically from the pool LOGNETPOOL defined on the logical network? Right now its not working.

I'm doing this for the following reason. On the logical network  LOGNETWORK, I want to create an additional site, that uses the same VLAN. But as I have thenetwork sites are not connected checked they wouldn't be able to communicate between each other. Right now I can't make it work, so I was thinking maybe SCVMM need to assign the IP addresses to the VMs, but I can't assign them also.

SCVMM2012 SP1 and the two hosts are Windows 2012 is the infrastructure.

Tx

Zarko
