When reviewing the "Admin" event log under the "Hyper-V-SynthNic" branch on a Hyper-V 2012 server, I noticed that the VMs that had been migrated using the P2V process all had a virtual NIC called "P2V Network Adapter". I was wondering if this was just a name or had some significance. Is it a temporary adapter added to the VM during the P2V migration process that has special capabilities for that process or just the default "Network Adapter" added with a different name? If the former, should I remove it and re-add the default "Network Adapter"?
What I am trying to understand is if this is something I need to address post migration or is it nothing to be concerned about. Are there any performance implications.
Thanks for your help.
