I recently deployed 4 Windows Server 2012 R2 Hyper-V hosts. The hosts are running as a cluster and are highly available. At the time, the vendor recommended that I deploy SCVMM 2012 R2 on a separate physical server as best practice.
SCVMM is actually a vm running in a hyper-v host on a Dell PowerEdge server. The 4 hyper-v hosts are running on a Nutanix cluster and are highly available.
After learning a bit more about the setup I'm wondering if it would make more sense to move the SCVMM vm into the Nutanix cluster so that it becomes highly available. Also, I've recently deployed SCCM 2012 R2 and notice that you can't provision vhdx's through SCVMM as SCCM is running on the Nutanix cluster but SCVMM is running on the Dell PowerEdge server.
I'd appreciate some feedback on moving SCVMM into the Nutanix cluster and also if it makes sense to do that then can I use the live clone feature? I'm concerned that since I'm moving the SCVMM vm it might fail while trying to manage the live move of itself.
Thanks.
