Iscsi offload SCVMM gui

$

Is there any way to see/configure cards with iscsi offload in the scvmm gui?

This is for Qlogic 57810 cards with nic partitioning they show up under storage controllers in Device Manger on the individual host

but we can't create iscsi sessions in SCVMM gui and assign IP's with IP pools.  For now we have turned iscsi offload off but we would like to know if there's a way to use it and manage  from gui/powershell.

Thanks in advance.

Hi all,

I have downloaded System Center 2012 R2 Virtual Machine Manager – Evaluation (VHD) from download center (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40843&wa=wsignin1.0&a03ffa40-ca8b-4f73-0358-c191d75a7468=True&e6b34bbe-475b-1abd-2c51-b5034bcdd6d2=True), according to document, I have mounted a vhd in hyper-v server and installed SQL Server first, once I completed configure VMM steps, VMM installation result is fail, and show following error:

06:00:38:InnerException.Type: Microsoft.Carmine.WSManWrappers.WSManProviderException, InnerException.Message: A Hardware Management error has occurred trying to contact server WIN-4U9GGMPVOAD  .

Check that WinRM is installed and running on server WIN-4U9GGMPVOAD. For more information use the command "winrm helpmsg hresult" andhttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/2742275 .

Even I have recreate vhd file, but still have error message, anybody can help me?

Thanks a lot!

SCVMM Replica VM settings greyed out

$

Hi,

We have two 2012-R2 Hyper-V clusters with replication enabled on VMs.  Both are hosted in our local data-centre and active load is spread across the two clusters with cluster A acting as a replica site for cluster B and vice versa as an additional level of redundancy.

We have SCVMM 2012-R2 installed to manage these clusters, and have noticed we can no longer change settings on the replica VM instance.  Example being we increase RAM on a VM, and would then ensure the change is made on the replica.  This used to be achievable via SCVMM but the properties are now greyed out along with most other options from the context menu of the VM.

This appears to have happened since we realised we were behind on updates for SCVMM and installed rollup 6 for SCVMM, later updating to rollup 10.  Has there been a change in the way replication can be managed though SCVMM, as I note that these updates have brought in Azure to the system.

Any advice appreciated.

Windows 10 1607 - Admin Console Crash

I upgraded my Admin PC to Windows 10 1607. When i open the VMM console and try to open the properties of a VM the console crashes. We reinstalled Windows 10 and VMM console on one PC with the ISO from the VLSC. Same thing happens. We use SCVMM 2012r2 Rollup 10 on server and admin console. Changing the language of the console to english doesn't help. The console worked fine in Windows 10 1511 before the upgrade.

Ideas anyone?

Live migration breaks Network Location Awareness on multi-homed VM

$

We have several multi-homed VMs, running reverse proxies and VPN gateway.

Whenever these are live migrated, we have a problem, where the reverse proxies lose access to the domain (ADSI calls fail, even though SSPI succeeds).

In these cases, the LAN adapter has become unidentified.

In order to have it re-classified properly as Domain, we either have to

a) reboot the image

b) disable the external NIC, then disable the LAN NIC, re-enable the LAN NIC, then re-enable the external NIC.  If the external NIC is enabled, it prevents successful discovery of the LAN NIC.

I've seen other posts for years about similar issues with NLA and multi-homed computers.  MS, you really need to allow us to force adapter usage.

This to me screams that there's some kind of broadcast discovery going out all adapter, and choosing the wrong source IP.  There was a long-standing bug relating to broadcast on multi-homed windows hosts, where a broadcast UDP packet would go out all adapters but use the source address of only 1 of the adapters.  This prevents replies from all the networks joined to the other adapters.

Maybe it's somthing else, but it means live migration is not possible, since it breaks our reverse proxies and requires manual intervention.  Quick Migration does not do this, but failover uses Live migration.

Deploying VM from template.

Greetings.

I'd encountered issues when deploying a VM from template.

I'd created a VM with clean windows server 2012, without any applications, roles or features. After that, I am created a VM template from that machine. It's created nice and without any issues. But when I'm tried to deploy a VM from that template, it's stucked in ~75%. When I connecting with this VM I see a black screen with stucked installation. It wrotes that the installation stucked because of vmbus.sys is missed or corrupted. I'd tried several times and with different WServer 2012 reinstalls. I'd tried to install a template as a part of the service, but it drops a same mistake.

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks!

Unable to deploy gen2 VM

EDIT: I updated the title to clarify that this seems to apply to ANY Generation 2 VM (including a new blank one), not just existing templates.

I'm not entirely sure what changed.  We have a variety of templates defined for different operating systems.  It seems that suddenly none of the ones based on Windows Server 2012 R2 will deploy.  Other templates (such as Server 2008 R2, Linux) will deploy fine.

It starts the process, copies over the VHDs, etc, and I believe at sometime around sysprep, it errors out:

Error (20413)
VMM encountered a critical exception and created an exception report at C:\ProgramData\VMMLogs\SCVMM.a6d3767d-0673-440d-91ab-7eabfcac1b7d\report.txt.

We are on Update Rollup 9.  EDIT: Just upgraded to UR 10 - same problem occurs.

The same error occurs whether we deploy from the VMM Admin Console or the Self Service Portal.

Looking at the referenced file, it shows:

----------------------------------------------------
------------ exceptionObject.ToString() ------------
----------------------------------------------------
System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

   at Microsoft.VirtualManager.Engine.TaskRepository.SubtaskBase.Run()
   at Microsoft.VirtualManager.Engine.TaskRepository.Task`1.SubtaskRun(Object state)

If this was just affecting one template, I would assume we had somehow changed it and broke it.  However, since it is affecting multiple different Server 2012 R2 templates, I feel like something is wrong at a different level.  Any ideas?

hi

I have Win server VMM 2012

try to take Physical - to - virtual but it failed on 60%

With the below error

Error (2912)
An internal error has occurred trying to contact the mobcorpVMM01.Mobiserveholding.com server: : .

WinRM: URL: [http://mobcorpvmm01.mobiserveholding.com:5985], Verb: [GET], Resource: [http://schemas.microsoft.com/wbem/wsman/1/wmi/root/scvmm/ErrorInfo?ID=1001]

The configuration registry database is corrupt (0x800703F1)

Recommended Action
Check that WS-Management service is installed and running on server mobcorpVMM01.Mobiserveholding.com. For more information use the command "winrm helpmsg hresult". If mobcorpVMM01.Mobiserveholding.com is a host/library/update server or a PXE server role then ensure that VMM agent is installed and running.

i'm sure that WS-Management service is installed and running

i'm sure about internal certificate between VMM server and the Physical

what can i do in this ?

Can anyone help me ?

Thanks.

Win 10 Anniversary Update breaks SCVMM 2012 R2 console

Hi,

I've updated my Win 10 with recent anniversary update.  However, my SCVMM 2012 R2 console has a VMMAdminUI crash when I attempt to view the properties of a VM.

This is also true with a clean install of Win 10 + Update.

Applying the latest Update Rollup Pack for VMM fails to fix this issue.

Anyone else come across this?

Connecting to a newly created VM

$

Hi,

I am creating a VM through my python code with the cmdlet : New-SCVirtualMachine

I need to connect to the VM once it is up and running and find out its IP (since it gets it through DHCP). Is it possible to do it with the System Centre 2012 R2 cmdlets? Or is there some other way?

I know :

  • name of the VM
  • access credentials (username/password)
  • the hyper-v node of the VM

Is it possible to log-in to the VM through some cmdlet or REST call and then execute an ifconfig/ipconfig to get the IP? From what I've seen there doesnt seem to be any cmdlet that gets me the IP directly.

Will greatly appreciate any guidance in this regard. Thanks much!

Dear All

Whe I follow this link to add azure subscription to scvmm. https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt125377(v=sc.12).aspx

I have imported private certification to SCVMM current user/personal and uploade it to azure. However, from "Add azure subscription wizard", "certificate" can not find the private certification . VMM is UR10. Thanks.

Getting error when trying to connect to VMM console

Because of recent company policy my domain account has been renamed. Now when I try to connect to the VMM server via the VMM console it gives me the below error. Other users are able to connect just fine even after their accounts were renamed.

VMM is unable to perform this operation without a connection to a Virtual Machine Manager management server.

Use the Get-VMMServer cmdlet or the -VMMServer parameter to connect to a Virtual Machine Manager management server. For more information, type at the command prompt: Get-Help Get-VMMServer -detailed.

Hi All,
In SCVMM 2012R2 I see in case of Windows VM template there is a section named 'GUIRunOnce' and for Linux it is 'RunOnce'. What are these commands typically?

Thanks in advance,
