Hi all,

i have a problem with vmm private cloud, when i create a cloud using vmm administrator all thing is work fine and when i go to the properties of the cloud - storage tab it show to me the capacaity assigned to to the  cloud  as a local storage

but when i assign this cloud to a tenant administrator and login to vmm using that tenant administrator account , go to cloud properties - storage tab i found that the local storage is zero GB with a long message saying in brief that some storage classification is bound to resources that is not part of this private cloud also i can not see any Virtual machine created previously on this cloud using that tenant administrator account

any help ?

thanks in advance.

Changed SCVMM Service Accounts - Can't log in

I uninstalled (retained settings) SCVMM and re-installed SCVMM under a different domain level service account.

Everything is working and SCVMM is up and running again. The only issue I am experiencing is that I can't log into SCVMM via the credentials of the newly assigned service account. I can log into SCVMM with any other account granted access to SCVMM, EXCEPT the service account. I logged in via another SCVMM Administrator account and assigned the new service account to the Administrator role in SCVMM and still no luck.

When trying to log into SCVMM via the service account, I am getting an Error ID: 1615 "VMM is unable to perform this operation without a connection to a Virtual Machine Manager management server."

I am tracing this down to a SQL issue, as I used SQL Profiler to trace the SQL commands that are executed upon log in. I am seeing this command executed:

exec dbo.prc_RBS_UserRole_GetAllByUser @ExecuteAsUserName=sid of account trying to login,@AccountType=0

This is the returned output of the above command:

Msg 15517, Level 16, State 1, Procedure prc_RBS_UserRole_GetAllByUser, Line 13

Cannot execute as the database principal because the principal "domain\service account" does not exist, this type of principal cannot be impersonated, or you do not have permission.

Well I know the account exists, because it was able to resolve the SID into the correct username....so not sure what the rest means (not terribly familiar with the in's and out's of SQL).

Within the VMM database properties, I see that SA is the Owner and that an User account called "VMMSetup" was created and associated to the login account of the domain service account and granted db_owner permissions.

I executed this command: grant impersonate on user::VMMSetup to [domain\service account]

The command executed successfully, but still can't login via the service account.

Any ideas?

VMM 2012 R2 Console fails to start

Hi,

I’m working on the upgrade of SCVMM 2012 SP1 to SCVMM 2012 R2 (using the existing database) in a high availability environment. Installation of Management Server and Console completes. When I try to access the console on the same server, it throws the error: “Unable to connect to the VMM management server localhost. The Virtual Machine Manager service on that server did not respond.

Verify that Virtual Machine Manager has been installed on the server and that the Virtual Machine Manager service is running. Then try to connect again. If the problem persists, restart the Virtual Machine Manager service.

ID: 1602”

The status of VMM service is ‘Started’ in services.msc. I’ve tried restarting the VMM service and then the server, but it didn’t work.

Is this issue due to database corruption during the upgrade process? I am unable to fix this issue. Anyone please help me.

Thank you very much!

VMM Library server refresh fails with error 2910

$

After changing our Library structure I'm getting this error whenever I try to refresh the library share on one of our Library servers:

I have no idea why VMM tries to access a file inside userprofiles\temp. The svc_scvmm is a service account, but not the account used for communication with the library server from VMM. The correct service account is a member of the local admins, so the problem shouldn't lie there. The file it's asking for simply doesn't exist.

Anyone have any pointers?

Moving database to another server

We have installed SCVMM 2012 R2 & SQL Server 2012 RTM on the same server. Now we want to move the SQL database to our production SQL Server which is 2008 SP3. I want to know how can we move the SQL Database without causing any problem as SCVMM host our Citrix XenDesktop infrastructure.

Changes to guest taking excessive amount of time

I have a 4 node hyper-v cluster running. All nodes are server 2012r2 and the cluster is present in scvmm (scvmm 2012r2).

The only issue I seem to have is actions that actions such as changing guest hardware, cluster refreshes and even guest shutdown take a long time.

Below is an example where I added 2 nic to a virtual guest, the whole process took 15 minutes. Is that normal? cluster refreshes have been known to take an hour and to shutdown a guest it is quicker to remote desktop and shutdown than issue the command from scvmm.

I've read about a similar issue related to CSV and server 2008r2 but I can't find anything related to server 2012r2 and this issue. Any help appreciated even if it is just a "thats how long it is supposed to take"

Hello All................When a VM is deployed via VM Template, Remote Desktop is always disabled by default.  Is it possible to configure a VM Template in a way that whenever a VM is created using that Template, it has the Remote Desktop enabled?

System Center configuration / Implementation

Hi

We are planning to implement VMM 2012 R2 along with SCCM & SCOM (we already have SCCM & SCOM 2007, so this will be side by side up-gradation / migration). All these roles will be installed on 2 X Dell PE R610 physical / host servers (2 X 2.66 CPUs' with 6 core each -total 12 cores- with 64 GB RAM with 2 port HBA card). The host servers will be configured with Windows 2012 R2 std, the servers will be in Cluster with Hyper V enabled. All system center servers will be virtual servers with Windows 2012 R2 OS. The 3rd party implementation team suggested 2 options

a) Install 2 X SQL server in guest cluster with 2 instances, 1st instance is for SCCM/SCOM and VMM DBs and second instance for reporting databases. Prepare 3 other virtual servers for SCCM / SCOM and VMM

b) Prepare 3 Virtual servers for SCOM/ SCCM and VMM and configure SQL locally on all 3 servers.

We would like to know your expert opinion / suggestion before taking a decision on implemetion

Thanks in advance

SCVMM 2012 R2 UR4 Running Dynamic Optimizer Fails

After updating to UR4, running the dynamic optimizer on two of my four clusters fails. The problem appears to be related to networking and is a "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error.

Looking at the event and trace logs, I have not been able to determine what is missing.  I ran the GetAllForLogicalNetwork SP for all my logical networks in SSMS and all returned data, so I'm not sure where to go next.

Interestingly, perhaps, my VMM server and DB version do not match--though I suspect QFE is the hotfix-updated version. Maybe the SQL update integrated with the installer did not run?

Brand new install of VMM on Server 2012 R2

A couple of days later there were new updates to .Net, after which vmmservice.exe will simply not start

Fantastic job Microsoft! Kill your own product

But maybe somebody has an idea?

Already tried LastSQMEngineRefreshTime value in the SQL table "fix", no difference

WAP Tenant's access to multiple IP Pools

Hello all,

I posted this in Azure forum but still no reply so I thought VMM gurus might be able to help.I am new to the Windows Azure Pack and running into a problem. Our plan is to setup a WAP portal for our private cloud implementation and I.T teams will be our tenants. We have created a virtual network that will be presented to the tenants to place workload on. I have added this network in the plan on WAP and it is visible to tenants perfectly and they can connect their VMs to it. We have multiple VM subnets under this VM network and one IP pool per each subnet. The problem is the tenant is not able to pick the exact subnet to which their machine will connect to. Only option they have is connect to the VM network. The behavior of WAP is strange as well, as it picks one subnet randomly from the available ones and connect the new machine to it. I was wondering if it is by design or am doing something wrong here and how to correct this behavior

Thanks,

Live migration don't work both ways.

Been at this for quite some time.

I have a VMM setup with 2 Hyper-V 2012r2 hosts.
I can migrate the VM from Hyperv1 to hyperv2 if its OFF, but I cant LIVE migrate. It gives the error down below. (In hyperv i can quick migrate it without any problems):
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Error (10698)
The virtual machine (vm1) could not be live migrated to the virtual machine host (hyperv1) using this cluster configuration.

Recommended Action
Check the cluster configuration and then try the operation again.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

If I create a VM on Hyperv1 THEN I can live migrate it to hyperv2, but I cant live migrate it back.

The cluster validation test is fine.

I have a Server2012 r2 iscsi target with one VM disk and one Quorum.

Anyone have any idea what is wrong? I have an identical (i want to think it is) setup, that works fine.)

Failed to start VMM

I have SCVMM 2012 R2 installed with Update Rollup 4. High availability of VMM management servers is configured, but there’s no HA configured for SQL machine.

Last night my all physical machines went suddenly shutdown due to UPS issue. Now when I am starting the VMM it throws the error: “Unable to connect to the VMM management server localhost. The Virtual Machine Manager service on that server did not respond.
Verify that Virtual Machine Manager has been installed on the server and that the Virtual Machine Manager service is running. Then try to connect again. If the problem persists, restart the Virtual Machine Manager service.
ID: 1602”

When I checked the Application Logs in Event Viewer of my management server, it shows the error: “Service cannot be started. Microsoft.VirtualManager.DB.CarmineSqlException: Unable to connect to the VMM database.
Ensure that the SQL Server is running and configured correctly. ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Cannot open database "VMMR2DB" requested by the login. The login failed.

When I try to start the SCVMMService from services.msc, it gives the message: “The System Center Virtual Machine Manager service on Local Computer was started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs.”
Another symptom is that when I check the Dependencies of SCVMMService, it doesn’t show any dependencies.

Please help me.

Thank you.

VMM 2012 R2 - "Host Not Responding"

$

Hi all,

I've gone through the other posts, all the ones I was able to find, but I still can't find one that really relates to my environment. As mentioned in the subject, I intermittendly have an issue where the hosts in SCVMM 2012 R2 will go into the "Host not responding" state, and the only way to resolve the issue is to physically restart the host. After a reboot it runs fine for a while, and then just acts out again.

I have a 6-node cluster running Server 2012 R2 DC. When this happens I cannot even connect to the cluster through Failover Cluster Manager until all the affected nodes have been restarted and is in a healthy state.

I've tried the follwoing in an effort to resolve the issue:

- Uninstalled/Re-installed SCVMM agent

- Verified that WinRM is running and responding.

- Disabled Windows Firewall altogether to ensure there isn't a rule blocking it somewhere.

I've been able to find a number of cases and posts for similar issues like this, but to now none of them have been able to bare fruit as far as solving tis issue is concerned.

Anyone running a similar setup that could perhaps shed some light on it?

Thanks

Problem Uploading Encrypted BITS to Library Server.

Hello. I am really hoping someone can help me, as I am completely stuck.

I have a HyperV cluster of 3 servers, who's VHD files are located on a scale-out file server over a 10GbE link. The VMs are running fine. But the fileserver, is also the VMM Library server. All of a sudden, I can no longer upload ISO resources into the library using the encrypted BITS method. I am certain I have all of the necessary permissions, because when I go un-encrypted, everything works fine.

However, when I try encrypted, I get the following error:

The library server certificate is not available on the client running the application. Try contacting

the administrator to install the certificate in the trusted people store of machine account or run the

client with local machine administrator privileges (Elevated) or try the transfer with -AllowUnencryptedTransfer parameter.

Run the client (Cmdlet/Admin Console) with elevated administrator privileges.

ID: 24364

I have searched on this error and cannot find much. I have made sure the library server's certificate is in the trusted people store of the VMM management server. I have also tried restarting the VMM management server.

Not sure where to go from here....

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

SCVMM 2012 R2

Cluster with 2 nodes/hosts

Deployed several VM's without any problem. Migrating between the hosts is no problem.

Now I want to create a service template, just deploying a simple webserver. I created a new VM, sysprepped it en saved it as a template.

I also created OS profile, Hardware profile etc. to automatically deploy the service template. When deploying the Service Template is all seems to go well until the action: ' Install VM components' This action fails after a couple of seconds with the error below:

====

Error (22042)
The service Testdeploy was not successfully deployed. Review the event log to determine the cause and corrective actions.

Recommended Action
The deployment can be restarted by retrying the job.

Error (2912)
An internal error has occurred trying to contact the host1.domain.local server: : .

WinRM: URL: [http://host1.domain.local:5985], Verb: [INVOKE], Method: [HWScoutOffline], Resource: [http://schemas.microsoft.com/wbem/wsman/1/wmi/root/scvmm/P2VServerJob]

The configuration registry database is corrupt (0x800703F1)

Recommended Action
Check that WS-Management service is installed and running on server host1.domain.local. For more information use the command "winrm helpmsg hresult". If host1.domain.local is a host/library/update server or a PXE server role then ensure that VMM agent is installed and running. Refer to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2742275 for more details.

====

First I checked all WinRM related issues, this is all good, connecting without a problem. Removed one host from the cluster, removed certiftcate from the Trusted People certificate store on the SCVMM server. Added the host again, certificate being created automatically, but still the same error. Checked the SPN names, GPO settings for WinRM, but I'm stuck at the moment. Has anybody have any clue on this one to point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance.

I have a SCVMM 2012 R2 U4, and when I deploy a 2012 R2 gen 2 guest with an answer file to do 1 autologon, my GUIRunOnce command runs and starts to install my application but before it is finished the server reboots, has anyone else come across this?

Cheers

Bare Metal deployment on VMM preview - WinPE not found after integrating drivers

$

Hey guys,

I tried to deploy some Preview Servers on a couple of HP Systems.
I did that already with VMM 2012 SP1 and R2 as well.
Integrating the needed Drivers for the raid/storage Controller and go for it.
But the same Procedere with the vmm preview Fails constantly and the error message is "Image not found".

So i tried the same Image of the preview within an R2 envirnonment and the Image is working.

the Standard Image of the VMM is also working but it happens after touching the PE and i would suggest theres a security Feature active i don't know or something like that?
Is it a known bug? Did i miss something?
