Upgrading the SCVMM 2012 to SCVMM 2012 R2

We have an existing deployment of System Center 2012 Virtual Machine Manager.

Version of database is Ms SQL Server 2012.

We want to upgrade to System Center 2012 R2 Virtual Machine Manager.

The recommended path for this upgrade is SCVMM 2012 à SCVMM 2012 SP1à SCVMM 2012 R2

Is it feasible that instead of following this path, I follow the below path:

1. Uninstall the SCVMM 2012 (selecting  the ‘Retain Database’ option) from my current machine
2. Install the management server of SCVMM 2012 R2 on a fresh machine (selecting the option ‘Use Existing Database’)

Is this path feasible???
