I have EMC NAS box (SMI-S Provider). Now I have to add these storage devices into my VMM setup. Can you please confirm "do i have to configure EMC storage with the machine where SMI-S provider is installed and then we can discover" or "can we directly discover the storage devices using EMC box IP Address"
Please provide the helpful information if possible.

Trying to migrate using scvmm between two clusters. It fails with the below error. If I look on the destination server, within the C:\ClusterStorage\Volume1 it has created multiple empty folders for this server, named server01-1, server01-2 etc etc all the way up server01-15. I cannot delete these folders using normal windows explorer as theyre locked.
any clues what might cause this behaviour ? thanks

We recently installed a SCVMM 2012 machine and connected it to a few HyperV2012 hosts.
From the SCVMM console locally on the machine it is installed on, I can connect to the Console of the VMs on the remote HyperV machines. However for some reason when I run it remotely from my workstation, I can connect to SCVMM just fine, but connecting to the console of the VMs gives me the error:
Virtual Machine Manager lost the connection to the virtual machine for one of the following reasons: Another connection was established to the console of this manchine. The virtual machine has been shut down or put into the saved state. The user credentials do not have the necessary privilege to connect. 0x0003, 0x0000
The firewall is not detecting any dropped packets (I enabled logging) and I am logging in with the same user as I do locally to the SCVMM server, so it is not permissions.

Hi All,
I have a minor, but annoying refresh issue in the SCVMM console.
I have one particular hyper-v cluster which for which the console is unable to refresh the overview, the wheel spins forever. The daily & monthly performance portions refresh ok. This only happens for one cluster and is irrespective of the user and machine the console is running from.
Any input appreciated.

I have a SCVMM 2012 R2 HA Installation . Under vmm i have an 8 node hyper-v 2012 r2 cluster with cluster shared volumes. My problem is with VM placement. Every time i create a Virtual machine by default VMM chooses a spesific CSV that i don't want . Also because of a provisioning engine i work a lot creating Vm's with powershell. The same happens with powershell. By default the VM's are created in a Volume i don't want. Is there a way to change this somehow ? If i go to each node properties and in placement paths in the default paths i see all my CSV but the add-remove buttons are grayed out and i cannot remove or add anything.
Any ideas ?

My Setup is SCVMM 2012 R1 Console Connected to SCVMM Library on Windows Server 2012 R1.
I am able to connect the SCVMM Server successfully. The two are in different domains.
When I enter the SCVMM Powershell, it is asking for credentials and I login with the SCVMM Server credentials.
I need to check the SCVMM Library share before copying a file to library. But, I am gettingTest-Path command fail when I check the SCVMM Library share using the Powershell. It is not asking for credentials though.
Powershell#Test-Path \\PC.HYPERV.NET\SCVMMLibrary\MyFolder\
False
Is there a way to get the SCVMM Library Server credentails when running Test-Path command ?
Or am I doing something wrong ?

Hi VMM Community,
I'm involved in cloud (WAP) project. The customer wants to avoid VM deployment over the network, he wants to use the VMM SAN to SAN copy. AFAIK, SAN to SAN copy is the same as Rapid Provisioning, so we can't use such technique with Cluster Shared Volumes (several VMs on the Same CSV), each VM will have its own LUN. The customer claims that it's possible with CSV. So i'm asking the question here to have a non refutable answer.
Is there a technique in VMM to avoid VM deployment via Network and that leverage SAN to SAN copy and works with CSV?

Hi experts,
I am using SCVMM 2012 R1 Admin console to connect to a SCVMM 2012 R1 Server.
I am unable to access the library share of the SCVMM library. When I right-click the library share and 'explore',I am getting 'Network path was not found' error. But I can add/remove library shares.
When I try to ping the Library Server. I am getting a "Request timed out." error.
I have configured DNS and able to resolve the names.
Any help is appreciated.

We have Three Windows 2012 Hyper-V nodes in which we distribute the VMs
Now we are facing an issue that in SCVMM 2012 Console we can see Duplicate entry of one of the VM'S in the same host and status is
showing as running but it is not there in the cluster resource manager.
How can we remove the duplicate entry with out affecting the production environment

I am comparing the System Center Suite against it's VMware counterpart. VMware has an option to set a maximum lease time for guest VMs after which they become inaccessible or are deleted.
Is the same thing possible using System Center 2012 R2 Virtual Machine Manager? I looked around, but this does not seem to be an option when setting quotas.
We have a clustered environment in SCVMM. I am trying to use Get-VMIntegrationService but it's not working. How can I use this cmdlet with SCVMM?
Right now, I've gotten around the issue by running the command directly on the Hyper-V host, however, this is not ideal.
I have VMM 2012 R2 console installed on the VMM server and on my laptop. In both cases it works correctly. I also installed the console on Windows 2012 R2 remote desktop machine. When I start it it opens correctly, I can for example see the list of VMs. But when I try connect to any VM through console I get the below error.
And when I try to open the properties of the VM the console crashes with error
Does anyone know the solution to any of these issues?
I haven't find any document how to configure these values in 2012 (only those register values in 2008), can you help? One main thing to configure is that "VM Light Refresher" .. that is done only in every 24h ?!

I have recently noticed event log errors being reported on a dedup enabled volume on a server I am using as a VMM library server. I have checked the scrubbing log and almost all the files listed as corrupt are linux VM based VHD's. Can anyone shed any light on what could cause this. Most of the Windows VM based VHD's are strangely uncorrupted. I have attached an example log below , any help will be greatly appreciated.
