We are running VMM 2012 R2. The Hyper-V Cluster is Windows Server 2012 R2 based with 4 nodes.
The errors seem to be occurring on all 4 nodes.

Has anyone had this sort of issue in the past?

Incomplete Virtual Machine Configuration on Some VMs on a host

On 2 VMs on one of our Hyper-V servers SCVMM 2012 r2 reports that they have incomplete VM configurations.  If we try to use the repair tool it says that there are resources missing from the VM but does not list any in the window and if we try to refresh the VM it fails with this error.  Also attempting to make any changes to the VM in VMM fail with the same error.  Changes can be made to the VM from Hyper-V Manager

running. Refer to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2742275 for more details.

Our VMM server is fully patched with the latest roll up, and of the 11 VMs currently on this server only 2 of them are having this issue.  The others are working with out issue.

Any Idea?

WMI Performance Counter Error 20513

We're running SCVMM 2012 SP1 with CU1 on Windows 2008 R2 SP1. A handful of our hosts are showing this error

Error (20513)
The VMM management server cannot retrieve performance data for the computer VHOST1.mydomain.com. This issue may occur if the performance counter provider in the Virtual Machine Manager agent is corrupted.

Recommended Action
Restart the System Center Virtual Machine Manager Agent service on the computer NetVHB001.net.da.ocgov.com. This automatically restarts the performance provider. If the error persists, reinstall the VMM agent on the computer VHOST1.mydomain.com.

I've restarted the VMM service and uninstalled / reinstalled the Agent. Still seeing the errors. Is there another fix for this that someone has been successful with?

VMM 2012R2: VMM Server, agent status: access denied

After upgrade SCVMM 2012SP1 to 2012R2 Library Server became unavailable. All library sources with status "missing".

In VMM Console (Fabric - Servers - Infrastructure) VMM Server and Library Server agent status "access denied".

Tryed to remove and add Library Server: Error 24363 VMM agent needs to be reassociated.

Reassociating with different credentials (local and domain) goes fine, but agent status still "access denied".

By the way, after upgrade SCVMM no new events in windows eventlog.

How to repair work of VMM Agent on VMM Server?

VMM 2012 R2 Update Rollup 2 | Error 20413 - VMM encountered a critical exception and created an exception report | 441 Agent communication is blocked

The Background:

VMM environment was updated from 2012 R2 to Update Rollup 1, followed by Update Rollup 2. Bare-Metal deployments have been working successfully and no agent communication issues have occurred until now. The VMM server is on a separate instance from the SQL server. The report.txt file indicates that there is a problem communicating with the SQL server however VMM starts fine and the VMM service starts fine as well (normally not the case when there are SQL problems).

The Issue:

When the client deploys a new host it comes up with following error message after installing the VMM agent (Report attached):

SCVMM 2012 R2 Best Practise

Hi

I would like to create templates for windows 8.1 and server 2012 r2 on scvmm 2012 r2. Of course, after installation the vmm server itself is a library server, but during testing i noticed that i get a huge increase in performce when i also make the smb3 file server a library server and host the iso's and vhd's there. Is this a bad thing? Also, currently I will be able to team two 1gbps interfaces and use that as my data and management network. I know this is a difficult question to answer. We don't do a lot of live migrations and have only about 20 vm's that move between two hosts.

Thanks

Karl

Deployed service with NLB

Hi,

When I add a load balancer to service, it shows the following message in Service Desinger.

"using Microsoft Network Load Balancing in VMM requires network connectivity and two-way trust between VMM management server and the virtual  machine"

And then deployed service failed. The error message:

Error (25128)
None of the virtual machines related to the virtual IP (VIP) address (W45NRRF18O40S00) in Microsoft Network Load Balancing are responding.

There is no enough disk space on the available volumes

Hi All,

I am facing issue while doing V2V through SCVMM 2012 R2. Below is the screenshot:

As i have 2 CSV with 2 TB each, still at the window of select host, SCVMM only able to recognize the local H.D.D space which is 55 GB free & i am converting 265 GB VM  & it's denying to go further.

Kindly suggest any solution asap.

Error creating vm from template

I get the following error when i create a vm from a template. So far I have tried completely reinstalling the host using a different name and following the blog as detailed on this site:

http://zahirshahblog.com/2013/04/02/scvmm-2012-error-2912-an-internal-error-has-occurred-trying-to-contact-the-server-no_param-no_param-scvmm-2012-failed-to-create-new-virtual-machine-using-template-on-windows-server-2012-hyper-v/

In addition to this I seem to be having trouble creating templates from VHDX files, since when I provision a new vm from these VHDX's the install fails upon the running of vm for the first time. The error i get is a failure occured during the specialize phase (specifically windows-shell-setup). No answer file is supplied, but I have made use of a guest os profile, which seems to be causing the problem.

See the attached picture for information relating to the first error.Image may be NSFW.

VMM PVLAN theory questions

Hello!

"Building a Virtualized Network Solution" ebook (http://blogs.technet.com/b/scvmm/archive/2014/02/19/free-ebook-microsoft-system-center-building-a-virtualized-network-solution.aspx) :

According to this textbook "A PVLAN consists of a primary and secondaryVLAN pair.", so then

Q1) what are the "primary PVLAN" and "secondary PVLAN"? ...seems the author uses these terms (VLAN or PVLAN) interchangibly...

Q2)"In promiscuous mode, hosts are on the primary VLAN and..." - given that VMM does not support promiscuous mode what's the purpose of the primary VLAN in VMM? Does it mean that primary VLAN can contain only hosts in promiscuous mode and nothing else?

Page 29 (39):

"PVLAN Isolation

Private virtual LANs (PVLANs) are often used by service providers (hosters)to work around the scale limitations of VLANs. They essentially allow network administratorsto divide a VLAN into a number of separate and isolated sub-networks which can then be allocated to individual customers (tenants)."

After reading this I conclude that should I want to have more networks than I can create using VLANs I can divide VLANs into PVLANs and use these PVLANs as separate networks, but when we later associate VM networks with PVLANs we actually do it with the VLAN pairs, not with a single primary or secondary VLAN, so the number of VM networks that I can deploy to users would not change...

a)  3 VLANs = 3 VM networks

b) After dividing these 3 VLANS into 3 PVLANs (resulting in 6 primary/secondary vlans) we still can create 3 VM networks

Q3) Is this calculation wrong?

Thank you in advance,

Michael

Turn off Time Synchronization for an Entire Cluster?

Is there a way to turn off the Time Synchronization Integration Services for an entire cluster, rather than having to do it individually VM by VM? I'm thinking maybe Powershell is what I'm after here?

Also, as long as I have it turned off in my templates going forward, I am good, correct?

Urgent : SCVMM Hyper-v cluster

Hi all,

In a SCVMM Hyper-v cluster how many host can be added in a single cluster.

Can we add more than 3 hosts in a single cluster ?

Please suggest.

SCVMM2012r2 UR3 : Even with no Virtual switch assigned, an uplink port profile remains

Hi,

What I'm tryng to do, is to unassign an uplink set on my host, set to the wrong NIC (actually, on 3 NIC, event if I specified 2 when I added the logical switch...).

To proceed, I deleted the Logical Switch assigned in the host properties on Virtual Switches tab.

On my host, the teaming has been deleted, but unfortunately, on one of my NIC, the subnet set in my Logical Network subsit in "Logical Network Connectivity" and is greyed out.

Image may be NSFW.
Clik here to view.

It's said "The subnet an VLAN information is set by an uplink port profile set 'tVMNet' associated to this host an cannot be changed here".

But, if I removed the virtual switch, how can it be?

Thanks for any advice, I'm stuck

Deploying Template with static IP pool failed

Hi,

I've got a cluster with two nodes on Win2012r2. It have been added already configured in SCVMM2012r2. I did however configure the VM Networkt through Logical Switches.

1 - Logical Networks : ProdVMNET, with one site, GVEProdVMNet, where my hosts are and the Production vLAN 3108, subnet 172.31.8.0/24 :

possiblely a bug - windows update error when using NAT between Hyper-V Virtual Ethernet Adapter

I'm using SCVMM managing my Hyper-V machine.

I have three physical network adapter on my hyper-v host as below:

I'm using SCVMM 2012 SP1 to create two virtual network adapter base on each Realtek controller, Bridge the traffic from the physical adapter, NAT the traffic from the internal virtual adapter to the internet facing virtual adater.

I can access the internet but i got the windows update error as below

If i NAT the internal virtual adapter traffic to the WIFI physical  internal facing adapter, windows update is fine.

I'm using my hyper-v server windows NAT feature.

I did google a round, it looks like something wrong when you NAT the two virtual network adatper..

if anyone here can help, that's would be much appreciated.

Manage Hyper-v cluster from two SCVMM (2012 , 2012 R2)

Hi,

I have scvmm 2012 manage current cluster  CL1

We want to create new cluster CL2    (2012 R2) and scvmm 2012 R2

Is it possible CL2 be managed by two different SCVMM  ?

Ramy

The configuration registry database is corrupt (0x800703F1)

SCVMM 2012 R2

Cluster with 2 nodes/hosts

Deployed several VM's without any problem. Migrating between the hosts is no problem.

Now I want to create a service template, just deploying a simple webserver. I created a new VM, sysprepped it en saved it as a template.

I also created OS profile, Hardware profile etc. to automatically deploy the service template. When deploying the Service Template is all seems to go well until the action: ' Install VM components' This action fails after a couple of seconds with the error below:

====

Error (22042)
The service Testdeploy was not successfully deployed. Review the event log to determine the cause and corrective actions.

Recommended Action
The deployment can be restarted by retrying the job.

Error (2912)
An internal error has occurred trying to contact the host1.domain.local server: : .

WinRM: URL: [http://host1.domain.local:5985], Verb: [INVOKE], Method: [HWScoutOffline], Resource: [http://schemas.microsoft.com/wbem/wsman/1/wmi/root/scvmm/P2VServerJob]

The configuration registry database is corrupt (0x800703F1)

Recommended Action
Check that WS-Management service is installed and running on server host1.domain.local. For more information use the command "winrm helpmsg hresult". If host1.domain.local is a host/library/update server or a PXE server role then ensure that VMM agent is installed and running. Refer to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2742275 for more details.

====

First I checked all WinRM related issues, this is all good, connecting without a problem. Removed one host from the cluster, removed certiftcate from the Trusted People certificate store on the SCVMM server. Added the host again, certificate being created automatically, but still the same error. Checked the SPN names, GPO settings for WinRM, but I'm stuck at the moment. Has anybody have any clue on this one to point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance.

Agent update on VMM management server

Hi!

I just installed Update Rollup 3 for SCVMM 2012 R2. Updating the agents on all hosts in the fabric was smooth sailing, but the "Agent Version" on the VMM management servers (clustered) still shows 3.2.7510.0 (base R2 installation). Viewing the Properties of the servers it shows that RU3 is installed, but I can't figure out how to update the VMM agent on these management servers.

Image may be NSFW.
Clik here to view.
VMM version and agent version

Does anyone have ideas on how I can update the agents to the latest version? I am guessing that the management servers' agents also are supposed to be updated after rollup installations, not just the other servers in the fabric?

Deploying NLB from Service Template Fails

I'm trying to use the Netscaler LB Provider Package for SCVMM 2012.  I think I have it configured properly based on the documentation.  But every time I try to deploy the service template that I created to use the Netscaler LB, I get the following error message:

Error (22042)
The service Test NLB was not successfully deployed. Review the event log to determine the cause and corrective actions.

Recommended Action
The deployment can be restarted by retrying the job.

Error (2603)
Unable to connect to the VMM database because the database is in an inconsistent state.

Recommended Action
Contact an experienced SQL administrator whenever this error occurs. In some cases, it may be necessary to restore the VMM database. If the problem persists, contact Microsoft Help and Support.

Error (20400)
1 parallel subtasks failed during execution.

Error (21952)
Application deployment failed for one or more tiers or application hosts in the service Test NLB. Check job logs to get more information on the failed operation.

Recommended Action
Check error messages and retry the operation if needed.

If I have no NLB whatsoever and deploy it from a service template it works.  I'm not sure what is going on here.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Nick
